Global demand for food is rising. Meeting that demand while protecting the planet requires new technologies, more efficient production and better use of land and resources.

Denmark’s agriculture and food sector is internationally recognised for efficient production and environmental solutions. Over the past two decades, Danish food production has increased while the environmental impact per unit produced has fallen significantly. Continued progress depends on innovation, resource efficiency and targeted environmental measures throughout the value chain.

Global reductions

The Danish Agriculture & Food Council believes that the green transition must lead to global emission reductions rather than simply moving food production and emissions abroad. Developing solutions that can be applied and exported internationally is therefore essential.

• support fair competition through common and effectively enforced EU rules

Environmental and climate challenges often extend beyond national borders. We therefore advocate common and effectively enforced EU rules that protect the environment while ensuring fair competition across the EU single market.
