Risk Analysis – infectious livestock diseases
The current research program includes the following projects:
- Traceability – database for transfer of pigs: The integration of transfer data and disease monitoring, in connection with risk based surveillance systems is used, as well as simulation of disease outbreaks.
- Optimisation of veterinary alertness: Participation in projects concerning classical swine fever and a model for the spread of infection as well as a project regarding optimal control strategies for outbreaks of foot & mouth disease. An analysis of veterinary alertness and the effect of improved biosecurity in cattle herds.
- Risk based surveillance of pigs, cattle and poultry: Investigations concerning the optimisation of monitoring for diseases such as TB, Brucellosis and various poultry diseases. A project is being carried out on risk based surveillance for classical swine fever and Aujeszky’s disease in pigs.
- Registration of meat inspection data: Meat inspection data are analysed for use in routine monitoring and calculations at the population level, as well as a basis for decision making in livestock herds. Investigations are ongoing into whether meat percentage and slaughter weight can be used as control means in veterinary inspection at abattoirs by comparing the meat inspection data with the meat classification data.
- Biosecurity: Analysis of the importance of transport quarantine as well as washing and disinfection of transport vehicles at the border for biosecurity in the Danish pig production.
